Thanks for all the hard awesome work you've done. Ive always wanted to do a smb3 styled hack but was severely limited on current selection of bosses. I do want to raise a second hand on the smb3 bowser and kooplings though. I not gonna request anything, it looks like you have your work cut out for you already.

The big coins can be blocks or sprites like RussianMan's Coin + Muncher. Another option for that is that they work with P-switches which then turns them into blocks with a number on it to show the amount of coins it's worth. If the Player touches it, it will spawn a custom score sprite from imamelia's Custom Other Sprites patch (if there is an option for that).
